FoliSolv(tm) Significantly Increases Bioavailability of Folic Acid in Nutritional Supplements

February 8, 2005 -- Magno-Humphries Laboratories, Inc. announces the availability of a newly patented folic acid formula, FoliSolvTM (US Patent #6,248,361) by Integ LLC, for use in nutritional supplement manufacturing. FoliSolv(tm) provides a folic acid composition that is instantly soluble in even cold water.

What does this mean to pharmacists?
While much is known about the benefits derived from folic acid, its very low aqueous solubility has made it difficult to use and administer. A study by Reuters indicates that dietary supplements containing folic acid generally have failed to meet the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) Convention for dissolution, which is that 75% of the folic acid content in the supplement dissolve in an aqueous medium within one hour, the time regarded to be necessary for folic acid to pass through the stomach and into the upper intestine where absorption occurs. FoliSolv(tm) is soluble shortly after ingesting and delivers increased opportunity for optimum absorption of folic acid early in the digestive process.
